Why West Jordan concrete sinks
West Jordan was settled around 1848 by Mormon pioneers under Brigham Young, and it takes its name from the Jordan River, which early settlers called the "Western Jordan" after the river in the Middle East. One of the area's first sawmills went up in 1850, built by Archibald Gardner, whose old mill site is now Gardner Village. The city didn't formally incorporate until 1941, and it grew slowly for decades before exploding from about 4,200 residents in 1970 to more than 116,000 today, making it Utah's third most populous city.

It expands within minutes to fill voids and lift the slab, cures fast enough to walk or drive on the same day, and won't wash out or break down the way a mud slurry can. In clay-rich, lake-bottom soil like West Jordan sits on, a lightweight, water-resistant fill is simply the more durable call.
